Simon’s Shine Shop & Dr. Beasley’s to Host Paint Care Workshop

A Hands-On, Do-It-Yourself Course in Scratch Removal and Paintwork Protection

5.25.11 (Chicago, IL) The task of waxing and buffing your own vehicle can be both daunting and frustrating for most car enthusiasts. Jim Lafeber, owner and operator of Simons Shine Shop—Chicago’s premier automotive car wash and detailing center, and Dr. Beasley’s—provider of the finest detailing and car care products, will be offering a workshop aimed at educating the average car owner about Do-It-Yourself paintwork correction/buffing techniques. The 1-hour long workshop will consist of demonstrating various methods and machinery used by professionals to preserve and enhance the longevity and shine of any vehicle’s exterior. “I think a lot of people are hesitant to use buffing equipment on their vehicles exterior out of fear of damaging or ‘burning’ the finish of the paint. We want to offer demonstrations to our customers and show them that they too can become experts at waxing and buffing their vehicles,” says Jim.

The workshop is geared towards the layman car enthusiast who would like to learn about the finest car-care products and methods used by professionals. The main focus will be on identifying scratches, using the proper polishes, understanding application pads, and using machine polishers/buffers to remove scratches and restore your vehicle’s lustrous shine.

“The demonstrations will be very ‘hands-on’ oriented, allowing every participant to get a chance to try out the products and machines—proving that with a little practice, they too can become proficient in the art of paintwork restoration,” says Lafeber.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday, June 15 at 7 PM. The cost is $25 per person, which includes participation in all demonstrations, free samples of car-care products, and over $50 in Dr. Beasley’s and Simon’s gift certificates. More tips on what car paint you can use.
